http://star-ecentral.com/archives/2007/8/26/soundnstage/p17helena.jpgIt was joining her school’s production of Sound of Music back in secondary school that sparked her interest in theatre for Helena Foo. From then on, Helena has been making a name for herself in the theatre scene. It started with her love for writing which sparked her foray into directing plays in 2006. Helena’s cup of tea in directing are plays that focus more on the psychological aspect of life. “I want them to go home and find out what they are really living for, to pay attention to all the little things we do.”

So far this Sunway University College graduate have directed The Shape of Things, Six Characters Looking for an Author, The System of Professor Tuko and currently working on her upcoming production. For Helena, the most memorable experience is seeing her dad in the audience at one of her plays. “He was really touched and proud. He came out hugging me at the end of the play.” Helena recalls, citing her parents, especially her late mother as the source of inspirations.

To Helena, theatre is life for her. Being only 22, she still has a long way to go but this budding talented lass has already been making waves in the performing arts scene. “I may be young and small, but I’m explosive. Just like a cili padi.”
